Join local wild food enthusiast and forager, Dan Lipow, for a moderately paced hike to search for seasonally available wild food. Dan will share his knowledge of edible plants and fungi as frequent stops are made to learn about and collect nature's bounty. Mushrooms, roots and greens will hopefully fill the bags and baskets you bring with you.
Proceeds from the hike will benefit Slow Food Northern NJ's school and community garden fund. For more information, email: NorthernNewJersey@slowfoodusa.org
Tickets must be purchased here in advance. All sales are final.
In case of hard rain, this event will be postponed.

This is the first event of what we hope will be a series of events in southern NJ.
On Feb. 11, 2024, Slow Food Northern NJ celebrated good, clean and fair food for all at The Woodland (60 Woodland Road, Maplewood, NJ). From 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., the public was welcome to meet local farmers and food artisans and to stock up on the best of local, sustainably-produced foods.
It was also our most important fund raiser of the year. A suggested donation of $3 at the door goes to Slow Food Northern NJ’s school and community garden fund. Supporting local (including urban) farmers, providing low-income families in our area with access to fresh vegetables and teaching kids about gardening and nutrition are at the foundation of Slow Food’s mission.
We are grateful to the Township of Maplewood, NJ for their many years of support of this event.
